While Techkids have been blogging since the beginning of the year, we have increased the intensity in the past several weeks by joining the Student Blogging Challenge.
Each Sunday a new challenge is posted and students around the world blog, visit and read each other’s blogs, and leave comments. Just yesterday an excited student squealed after checking her blog, “I got a comment from someone in Ireland!” This is what blogging is all about!

And connections we’ve made around the world:
This week’s challenge (Week 5) is about using media that is free to use and share. Students are learning how to find images with Creative Commons licenses. We give credit to the person that created the media (photograph, song, etc) by including an attribution that links back to the original work. This week we are creating word-free photo stories about Sea Turtles.
While most students are enjoying the Student Blogging Challenge, some find it challenging to complete posts and comments. You can help! Consider visiting and commenting on student blogs as a family. This is a worthwhile family activity, not to mention a wonderful opportunity for you to share in your child’s learning.
Student posts are highlighted in the Blogging Challenge’s Flipbook. Several Techkids’ blog posts have been highlighted in this online magazine. It’s a nice way to find blogs worth visitiing!
